Museum of Local History in Budateteny

The site for this building is in the south part of Buda. Budateteny has his own identity. With freestanding family houses and low rise buildings it seems as a small town. The hundreds of fruit-trees and the small vineries gives it's natural taste. The flavours are great: rashberry, grape, cherry, pinewood,....etc

Public buildings and public functions in this area: church, shop, restaurant/pub, sport field and the fire station (with it's tower). Most of them is freestanding and 1 or 2 storied.

All of the most important hungarian architectural styles (modern, cubic with pyramidal roof, rural, american,...) left their own caracteristical buildings in this small town.

By the function the concept was to design a building and a place what will be the part of the collection of the Local History (with it's connections to the environment and it's spaces, materials). This house can be the „HOME” of the local community.

The location of the building is freestanding and connects to the neighbours. On the south side (where is the lower traffic) is opening to the public space with a huge glass wall. Upper the entrance and this glass facade there is a grape pergola which can be another connection with the environment (wine yards).

In this region there are a lot of huge cellars for wine or mushroom. These spaces are very caracteristical here. 10-20 metre wide, 5-10 metre high and hundreds metre long cellars. These spaces are very impressive. The local material is the limestone which is very good for these cellars.
